Experimental analysis on the exploding wire process for nanopowder production: Influence of initial energy and exploding atmosphere

Metallic nanopowder is employed in several applications for its flexibility of use, thus production growing over the years. Exploding wire technique can produce a wide range nanoparticles from electrically conducting samples, and it has potential high efficiency productivity, due to strongly localized power dissipation. On other hand, phenomena involved during explosion are complex, phenomenological relationships usually considered controlling output product characteristics. In this study, we investigated effect input energy medium which takes place on final dimensional distribution nanopowder. Utilizing proper supply an exploding system developed purpose, applied up 10 GA/m2 copper samples immersed air or water. We collected products morphological analysis, carried out shape characterization based statistical analysis obtained particles, compared discussed results concerning adopted initial conditions most recent literature data.
